It’s not exactly a secret anymore that soccer – or football, as they say
across the pond – is a very lucrative line of work. You don’t even have
to play at a high level to make a decent living out of kicking a ball
for 90 minutes a week.
Lately though, there’s been a huge influx of Chinese money that has changed the hierarchy of football wages. While there was a time where the best player in the world had the biggest wage, this is no longer the case. The Chinese Super League is buying moderate and/or old football players to boost their own league, with some pretty ridiculous wages to convince them to make the trip to China.
That said – top clubs in Europe aren’t paying too bad either. While there’s a lot of speculation regarding wages and the numbers can vary greatly, let’s try to take a look at the top 15 best paid football players in the world, based on the most recent (and trustworthy) numbers. Oh – and these are weekly wages, no endorsements or marketing deals included. Just in case you were wondering because of all the zeroes.
10. Neymar Jr. (Barcelona) – $371,400
The Brazilian wonderkid gets paid a decent Lamborghini each week. And let’s be honest – he’s worth every penny.
9. Paul Pogba (Manchester United) – $372,600
The most expensive transfer in football history, and yet there’s 8 people out there that make more money than him. Must be because of all the unnecessary dabbing.
8. Axel Witsel (Tianjin Quanjian) – $385,400
He moved to China last year where he got a contract of nearly $22 million, of which over $19,200,000 is his fixed wage and the rest is paid in incentives. Nice. Cash and carry.
7. Hulk (Shanghai SIPG) – $411,000
The Brazilian striker, who was a teammate of Axel Witsel at the time they both moved to China, apparently made a better deal than his ex-teammate.
6. Gareth Bale (Real Madrid) – $411,000
Considering he’s been in and out of injuries this season, it’s pretty obvious Real Madrid wants to get rid of this financial disaster. Paying $411,000 each week for someone that isn’t fit to play doesn’t seem like a very good economic plan.
5. Lionel Messi (Barcelona) – $462,400
Honestly, if Messi is number 5 on this list, there’s very few players that are actually worth their wages after this (spoiler: number 3 is also worth his price).
4. Oscar (Shanghai SIPG) – $514,000
It was assumed for a pretty long time that Oscar was the best paid player in the world. He was also one of the first to move to the CSL. While his weekly wage of nearly $514,000 isn’t that bad, he doesn’t even get a top 3 spot on this list.
3. Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) – $545,000
And this is only his wage, this isn’t counting his numerous endorsement deals. If we’d add that number, his wage would probably be a lot higher. Because even CR7 can never have enough money, right?
2. Carlos Tevez (Shanghai Shenhua) – $790,000
Seems pretty ridiculous that this guy isn’t the top earner, right? If it makes you feel any better, rumor has it that Tevez isn’t overly happy with his new Chinese overlords and regrets leaving his earlier team to go play in China.
1. Ezequiel Lavezzi (Hebei China Fortune) – $1,025,000
Yes, that’s slightly more than a million bucks every week. Now calculate how long it would take you to earn this at your current job and hate your life.

Martial arts movies are pretty much every action movie fan’s guilty pleasure, aren’t they? It’s so hard to take them seriously, but they’re so entertaining to watch. There’s a plethora of martial arts out there and most actors tend to stick to one of them because it’s pretty much impossible to learn them all and bring them to the silver screen in a convincing matter.
Some martial arts actors however, didn’t even manage to get a black belt in either discipline. That sounds like cheating, but it isn’t really. Let’s take a look.
David Carradine
Despite starring in quite a few kung fu projects like Kill Bill, David doesn’t know any kung fu at all. All he knows is dance and gymnastics. Chuck Norris once said that David is as good a martial artist as Chuck is an actor, which probably says all that needs to be said.
Paul Walker
Paul Walker was an avid practitioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but he never got his belt while he was alive. Due to his prowess in the sport, he was granted a black belt after his death. Considering how he’d been training for over a decade with great success, it was deserved.
Jet Li
We all know Jet Li can’t act and plays in loads of action movies, so we can assume he knows how to fight, right? He does – he’s in fact quite talented (a prodigy even) in Wushu, but this form of martial art doesn’t use a belt system.
Keanu Reeves
Also a practitioner of BJJ like Paul Walker, Keanu has only recently started working himself up the belt system. Despite him not being quite at black levels yet, we have no doubt that he’ll manage to snag a black belt sooner or later. Probably for John Wick 6 or something.
Bruce Lee
Yup, Bruce didn’t get a single black belt in his life. Of course, he did practice wing chun, which doesn’t have a belt system. I’m pretty sure he would’ve gotten a black belt otherwise. I mean, Bruce studied under the legendary Ip Man.
Michelle Yeoh
Despite playing in most martial arts movies in the 90’s, Michelle has zero martial arts training. She was only formally practiced ballet and has zero belts to account for.
It can be hard to know when someone is really into you. Figuring out someone’s feelings, especially if they don’t even know them yet, can be difficult and actually pretty nerve wrecking. This is definitely the case for guys, who may not always be the best at communicating how they feel. And if you are really into this guy, you are probably anxious to know how he feels about you, or if he likes you as much as you do like him. If you are ready to really understand your crush or love interest’s feelings, here are 7 things he will do if he is totally in love with you.
His eyes tell it all.
The biggest sign that a guy is into exists in the way he looks at you. He may not say it, but if he is falling for you, he will look at you like you are sent straight from heaven.
He makes you a priority.
People only make time for what they want, and usually make excuses when they aren’t that interested. If your guy is busy – whether it be with work, school or friends – and he still consistently makes time for you, this is a pretty obvious sign that he really cares about you.
He accepts you for who you are.
Some guys might want you to act or dress a certain way to appease their needs and desires. But if a guy is really into you, he will accept you for who you are, willingly and lovingly.
He gives you constructive criticism.
If a guy doesn’t really care about you, they won’t be invested enough to tell you when you’re off your game. They could easily witness you being self-destructive or making poor decisions, and not care enough to give you feedback. But a guy that really loves you will call you out on your stuff, because they care enough about you to help you be your best self.
He supports your aspirations.
A guy that really cares about you will not only hope you achieve your dreams, but will actively support you in doing so. Does he do things like help you brainstorm new ideas for your business, study constantly with you for school, or even physically show up for your personal or professional endeavors? He is definitely falling for you.
He is reliable even when it’s inconvenient or uncomfortable.
You can really see how a person feels about you by observing their behavior in inconvenient situations. Does he still make sure you are okay after an argument? Does he help you run errands even if it cuts into his free time? Little, but good deeds like this show his true character and feelings for you.
He includes you in his life.
If a guy isn’t really into you, you won’t know much about his life outside of his interaction with you. If you know all your guy’s best friends, his favorite hang out spots and hobbies – or even if he just constantly updates you about his day – this guy is definitely falling in love with you.
